I see lots of apps for barcode scanners for my iPhone and don't know which one is the best one for scanning books, but how do I get the Amazon database information I'll need to price the books?

Hello Barbara;
That’s a good question. I can understand why you might be confused about how to obtain pricing data before selling used books online.
Actually, it’s quite simple. Pricing data comes from software vendors specializing in providing price lookup tools. Some of the most well-known vendors are Mediascouter and ASellerTool. This data is available on a subscription basis; you pay a monthly fee and you download the most current price data to your iPhone each time you want to go book scouting.
Alternatively, you can bypass the download step and use your iPhone in real-time mode and grab price data directly from the Internet using the same vendor tool. However, most book scouters prefer downloading the data because real-time lookup can be unreliable in situations where a clear phone signal isn’t available.
Most price lookup tools will cost $30—$40 per month, but you’ll easily pay for the subscription with just a few good sales. You’ll definitely find higher quantities and higher quality books when using a scanner than you will without one. So don’t let the monthly fee scare you.
