Most college students prefer to buy cheap college textbooks instead of buying brand new ones from bookstores. The reason is that many students can’t afford to buy brand new textbooks which can cost as much as $200 each.
Used text books are far more affordable; making them the practical student’s choice. Sure, used textbooks for sale may not look as good as new ones. The page corners may be folded and they probably contain highlights and hand written notes on the interior. But at the end of the day, the content remains the same and students save a significant amount money.
This is a great market niche for Internet booksellers who plan on selling textbooks online because there are several websites where you can post your cheap college textbooks for sale.
One of the famous websites is Amazon because they sell brand new books as well as used ones. Another website that allows you to sell college text books is Half.com.
As the website name implies, they can sell used college textbooks for as much as half or less of the original price.
Of course, you can always search the Internet for some of the smaller textbooks for sale websites and hope for the best. You’ll make a few sales, but if you want the big money you need to stick with the largest marketplaces.
How much can you make? That depends on the type and age of the textbooks you’re selling. The sale price of a typical textbook can be as low as a penny and as high as $100 if it’s a textbook that currently being used in classes.
Some textbooks have become scarce and are used as classic reference books. Those types of collectibles can fetch many hundreds of dollars on the open market. If you have old college textbooks gathering dust in your home, you might want to do a bit a research and find out if they hold any value.
The point is cheap college textbooks are a great way for students to save money and a great way for booksellers to earn money.
Renting College Textbooks
Another option for earning money with cheap college textbooks is to rent textbooks instead of selling them.
The benefit to booksellers is that the textbook is still yours and it has to be returned within a time frame that allows you to rent it again to the next incoming class of students.
What if the student wants to keep the book to use as a reference from time to time? You can always give students the option of paying an extra fee and sell them cheap text books for cash after renting them first.
Cheap college textbooks are not difficult to find because there are students who sell used text books online after finishing a class. All that you have to do is to look through Craigslist.com or even Google a few websites to find them. You’re bound to stumble upon sites that sell used text books.
Finally, the most obvious place to look is on campus bulletin boards. Many students post notices about textbooks you can buy as well as what books students are looking for.
